Over the last few years, when snow has fallen the rain gauge stopped working. It then took a number of days before operation was resumed. When the gauge started working again, the water would be measured at the wrong point in time indicating it's raining(snowing) when it's not. So I have built a rain gauge heater... click here to see project page.
Here is a short video of my latest additions to my Raspberry PI. I have connected an i2c bus OLED display to show the current settings of the NTP system, i2c compass and the upcoming 1Wire rain gauge heater. As the PI is headless, this gives me the status of all the running control systems without needing to login into it.
After about a year or so of having a couple of Raspberry PIs I have at last got them interfaced to the real world, well realish. Two projects, so far!.. more to come, we hope. A Stratium 1 NTP server and a Nixie Tube GPS time source.
I have just got around to publishing the construction details of two of my biggest projects this year (2013), These both started at the beginning of the year. I took the Weather Station down end of last year (2012) and decided it needed a make over, see here, and also I built a new lightning radar as the last one rotted away!
I have just added some new functionality to the site. You can see what date and time the Maximum and Minimum temperatures from my house monitoring system have been registered.
Just put your mouse over the maximumm, minimum temperature or Location, and a tooltip with the details will appear.
