Imperial War Museum 2012
More content, this time some pictures I took at the Imperial War Museum in London last year 2012, hope you enjoy them. I will also be uploading some more aero engine pictures taken on the same day at the Science Museum in London. | See the full size images in the gallery in the gallery menu on the left. |
Weather Station & 1-Wire Temperature Sensors
Hello, I'm pleased to anounce that the weather station is back, after a 6 month refurb, so far it seems to be working fine. I will post an article soon on the work that took place. I have also published an article on making the 1-wire temperature sensors I use to monitor the temperature around the house. I have a number of other articles and pictures to publish, and also I'm starting the rebuild of the lightning radar. | ![]() |
Site updated to Joomla 3.0
After many hours, I have managed to move my site over to Joomla 3.0, fixing a number of the modules it uses on the way that did not work on 3.0, so well pleased. I now have to finish off a number of new articles.. humm.
House Power and Sensor Events
I have added a new power monitor to the house which enables me to create graphs of the power used. I have also been able to extract the data from the many sensors around the house and graph them. These can bee seen on this page

Temperatures/Telephone and Liverpool Pictures
After a number of years I have just completed an addition to my home automation system, where I upload the current, max and min temperatures and display them. I have also carried out the same for the incoming telephone calls. Why have I done this... because I can :-) | Finally there are some snaps taken in Liverpool December 2012, see the gallery menu, left. |
Caller ID - at last!
Well, after 10+ years I have found a USB modem that works 100% with BTs Caller ID. Other units I have stop 'seeing' the caller id after a while, DSR dropping problem, there was no fix, it was just a feature and the manufactures were not interested in fixing it, or they had gone out of business.
Well it seems there is a solution the US Robotics USR5637: USR805637-138400 | ![]() |
the only proviso, is that the firmware needed updating to version 1.2.23. I has been working for weeks now, without any resetting, rebooting of the machine, very impressed, well it should work, shouldn't it, unlike the dozen or so other modems I have brought over the years!
The software I use to monitor is CallerClerk, This is not the full story. I have written various scripts and integrated various software so that when a call comes in on the home land line, a SMS text message is sent via a old mobile to my mobile, can be very useful. In the near future I should have stats that show how many calls come in per day/week/month, not that many :-)
Monitoring Graphs Updated
I have just updated the house monitoring graphs and ups graphs with a graident fill, looks a lot better, less harsh.
Weather Station Coming Back
Due to the fact we are now not moving, I will be reinstating the Weather Station. It will be getting a refurb, so it's problably going to be a couple of months away.
